Part of the fun of watching anime and reading manga is to look out for gorgeous people (girls if you are a boys and bishonen if you are a girl). And nothing can make a girl go ‘wow’ more readily than bishonen sporting long hair

I’ve come up with some of my personal favourites – pretty boys that make a girl’s heart go ‘thump” when they appear on screen.

1) The four hunks from Colourcloud palace

All of them are eye-candies. Sometimes you wish that you are shurei, surrounded by Ryuki, Seiran, Koyu and Shuei…. Ah….

2) Hotohori (Fushigi Yuugi)

There are some similarities between characters of Fushigi Yuugi and Colourcloud palace. I thought at first look that they were done by the same mangaka…. Hmmm.. but out of some long-haired fellows in FY, Hotohori carries off the style better with his long, shiny, flowing hair!

3) Byakuya Kuchiki (Bleach)

Another man with black, shiny, flowing hair and dons a long robe. What more can I say…

4) Nyx & Hyuga (Neo Angelique Abyss)

Two gorgeous guys that are opposites of each other. I guess they appeal to different types of ladies. Some like the dark one while others prefer the white angelic look

5) Sephiroth (Final Fantasy)

Aside from the thrilling gameplay, Final Fantasy managed to put in drooling characters like Sephiroth and Cloud. The strategy did not fail to lure the female population into RPG.

6) Minamimo Syuuichi aka Kurama (Yu Yu Hakusho)

Who can forget the post he assumes when he’s about to “whip a rose”? Those soulful green eyes has never ceased to melt a friend of mine during our teenage years. I personally prefer the youko Kurama; I find Syuuichi too soft…

7) Sesshoumaru (Inuyasha)

The brother of the main character of this anime series seems more appealing than him. With his cool and never smiling countenance, Sesshoumaru has “slashed” the hearts of many girls, even when not using his tensaiga. Hehe…

Ayame (Fruits Basket)

Although his appearance is not frequent, Ayame left a deep impression in many girls’ mind. Is it that shiny, flowing silver mane? Or is it his serpent-like tendency?

I kinda reminisce about the past recently, the games I grew up playing, the shows I grew up watching and the cartoons I grew up with. I was looking at some fro You tube and started to wonder why they don’t make such stuff anymore… Haha.. I’m getting old but these cartoons have left a deep impression on my mind.

1) Thundercats
Thunder Thunder Thundercats….. I still remember coming back from school and switching on the telly at a specific time to watch this cartoon. I also remember my cousin who used to tape all the episodes and rewatched them. Absolutely fabulous. I’m still waiting for a Thundercats Movie.

2) The Real Ghostbusters
Slimer, the Marshmellow man… the song.. arghh…

3) Transformers
More than meets the eyes… I can’t believe my luck when they start showing this series recently on TV. Hehe… The old transformers.. the old Starscream…This cartoon ran for several years, it must be good..

4) Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
Has one of the most catchy songs during the 80′s. I remembered I never miss a single episode of this cartoon and was in love with that cowboy character

5) Alvin and the Chipmunks
A different genre of cartoon altogether. Who doesn’t love them? I can’t wait for the squekuel of the movie to come out at the end of the year

It’s September, in fact today is the momentous 090909. There’s a lot of September babies out there.. wonder what’s the reason. To all the September babies: Happy Birthday! It’s your month As I am typing this, my friend is in the delivery room, labouring… argh…

For such a celebrative month, I’ve decided to write about cute and famous cartoon babies. Here are my finds:

1) Baby Gokou – Adorable!

2) Baby Gohan – Even cuter than the dad

3) Baby Kurama – Love those big round eyes and chubby cheeks!

4) Maggie Simpson – Need I say more? She’s a baby that doesn’t grow!

5) The last but not least – the cutest and most adorable of them all: Winnie the Pooh!!

Owww… the really make me want to have one of my own.. what say you?

I’m a dog lover, even own a dog myself. Although she doesn’t have any ninja abilities, I still love her

Today we’re not gonna talk about my dog. I’m going to introduce some canine friends that deserve to be famous! Let’s start with the most famous one -

Pakkun
I’m sure you have heard of him. He’s a pug – thus the name “Pakkun”. Why is he so famous? Well.. that’s because he’s Kakashi’s pet. Hmmm… He seems to lead the nin-dog pack in Naruto, seems aged with wisdom and best of all, he talks! Here’s an episode where he meets Sakura:

Ain’t he cute? Despite his small size, Pakkun is vey useful. He has very sharp sense of smell . He can easily determine the type of scent, how far it is, and how dangerous the person is.

Now, let’s go the our sencond famous dog -

Akamaru
Kiba’s best friend. The inuzuka family has a lot of dogs, but most famous one belongs to their son Kiba. Akamaru’s heightened senses, such as smell and hearing, along with Kiba’s ability to communicate with him, make him a powerful ally for gathering and sharing information. He can also sense chakra with his nose, so he can judge an enemy’s strength and warn Kiba if they are particularly powerful.

However, Akamaru’s most powerful ability is shown in this video:

Yay! He can combine with Kiba to form a 2 headed beast called Soutourou (2 headed wolf).

My last dog does not come from Naruto but from a rather unknown Ninja series. He’s none other than  -

Hemu-Hemu

Who is this? Well, he’s that dog from Nintama Rantarou. The one that always sabotages their plots. Hemu-hemu behaves more like a human than a dog. He’s the principal’s best friend and is in charge of ringing the school bell. He’s around 20 years old and has a myriad of activities, including one that resembles Sasuke’s Katon Ryuk no Jutsu.

There’s a recent hype about a certain anime series entitled “Dragon Ball Kai”. I have watched Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and even Dragon Ball GT, but  have certainly not seen a Dragon Ball Kai.

Deeper research led to the authenticity of this anime: The “kai” ? simply means “modified”. Modified? How? Isin’t Dragon Ball good enough by itself (Don’t talk about the movie). To celebrate Dragon ball’s 20th anniversary ( I thought it’s more than that?!), the Japanese TV has extensively refreshed the series, shortening the 291 episodes to a mere 100. The fillers were taken out. The sound system and artwork was improved and they even managed to make it HD!! With a 16:9 ratio! Now… I have to see that

This website has been neglected for almost 2 months. My sincere apology. So many things cropped up during these 2 months, so much so that I didn’t even get the chance to catch Dragonball evolution. Now, how busy can one get?

Some say April is the beginning of summer. I can’t agree more. The weather this week has reached a whopping 35 degree Celcius! We are all sweltering and covered with a BO that refuses to diffuse

Summer brings us a lot of memories, both fun and not. One of the funniest and most engaging activities that those anime characters do during the summer is water-melon smashing. Haha… And the venue is usually the beach! How apt can that be? I suppose water-melon is considered a refreshing fruit, and it does quench your thirst on a hot scorching day. But is that the reason the smash it open?

I’ve done some research and collected some fun water-melon smashing scenes for our viewing pleasure…

1) Azumanga Daioh
Done between Tomo and Kagura for several times.

2) Full Metal Panic
Between Sousuke and his classmates, but that never happened. I can’t find the picture, so I substituted it with this…

4) Ranma 1/2
There are numerous water-melon smashing scenes, even a contest. However, I can’t find any pictures of them.. just his one with Ranma in a watermelon swimsuit and with some watermelons in the background

It has been a long time since I updated this website I was too bogged down with the necessities of a full time job. Everyday after returning from work, I hit the sack. That’s sad…

Today I wish to introduce to you some females that rock! They’re tough, they’re fearsome and most importantly, they kick ass!! Even the rear of men! Hehe… They’re Kartun’s Samurai Ladies

1) Shiina Yuya (Samurai Deeper Kyo)
First and foremost, we have a lady that’s feared by most – a bounty hunter called Shiina Yuya. She is often seen beside Kyo,  who always protect the weaker sex. But our Yuya is no weaker sex, she sports a deadly weapon – her ever trustful gun, always fully loaded. I wonder where she gets all her bullets…

Yuya is one mean girl that you don’t wanna cross, otherwise,  gone art thy head!

2) Kamiya Kaoru (Rurouni Kenshin)
A girl, barely out of her teens that runs a doujo with her own hands.   Kaoru is a tough girl with a body trained in the art of the Samurai. Alone and armed with her sword, she fights well. Alongside Kenshin, she makes a formidable sidekick.  She’s a skilled fighter that you would not want to mess with.

With such a tough exterior, you will be surprised that Kaoru can be gentle too, as evidenced by her love towards Kenshin

3) Kirara (Samurai 7)
She is the village priestess) of Kanna, a beautiful one at that.  She possesses a dowsing crystal on a necklace which allows her to detect the flow of groundwater and to read others’ hearts.  That makes her a dangerous foe if you happen to cross her path!

Have you seen her fight? She certainly can kick the asses of men and women! Go Kirara Go!!

4) Heaven (Samurai Girl)
 She’s not an anime character but I thought Heaven deserves a place here  Samurai Girl is a six-hour mini-series based on the popular young-adult novel series by Carrie Asai.  The actress that portrayed Heaven is Jamie Chung.

She’s one tough girl, ain’t she? Samurai girl is about a girl (what else?) that stumbled upon her destiny due to unforeseen calamities that happen around her. She soon learns from legend that tells of a girl that falls from heaven and grows up to be a great warrior. Is Heaven the girl? Well, you go and find out.

5) Stella Taylor ( Samurai Lady)
Another non-anime character that makes it to the list.  Why is she here, you ask? Well.. the answer is simple: Because she kicks ass!

Just look at Stella, she’s the Samurai lady come alive! Trained under a Samurai, her master was mysteriously killed one day. Being an FBI agent, she ventured into the world of violence and deceit to discover the truth behind her master’s demise.

Reading what I’ve written, I do wish that sometimes I can be one of these ladies that kick ass! They seem to be formidable and seldom crumble under pressure. Is it because of their Samurai spirit, or are they just tough naturally?

I can’t believe it! 2008 has whisked past like a bullet and I am now in a new year, nearing the end of the 1st decade of the 21st century. Okay.. that was indeed a mouthful

For those of you who have been enjoyng your holidays,  I have a piece of sad news for you – school’s gonna start soon! Hehe.. Well.. If you look at this from a different angle, it may not be so bad. Gone are the lonely hours you spend in front of this monitor! And welcome the social – friends, the challenge – tests and the perserverence – tonnes of homework.

Of course, being around people inevitably will  develop relationship and perhaps, spark off some chemistry. Kartun likes to watch animes that involve high / middle school romance They give you this sappy warmth that other animes seldom evoke. Here’s some of my favourite romance animes happening at the education centres:

1) Gakuen Alice

This  is the story of a 10-year old girl Mikan Sakura who was transferred to Gakuen Alice, a school for children with  special abilities  called an “Alice”. The story focusses  on Mikan and what happens in the Academy. However, Mikan manages to meet a boy named Natsume, whom hates at first sight but  came to care for him later. Eventually she became someone whom he loves. Awwww…..

2) Marmalade Boy

Although this anime was aired more than a decade ago, it remains one of my favourites. The story revoles around Miki Koishikawa and the tough choices that she has to make, the challenges of her love life. It began with Miki’s  parents announcing  divorce in order to swap partners with a couple they met in Hawaii. To add to that, they even wanted to stay in the same house albeit the change in spouses. The other couple have a son named Yuu, who became Miki’s boyfriend in the series. Complicated? More’s to come! 

Throughout the series, Miki and Yuu’s relationship is challenged and shaped by other characters around them. Here’s a glimpse of Miki in one of her “tough” moments, when Yuu is away…

3) Kimi ga Nozomu Ei En (Rumbling hearts)

A sad story, out of the norm high school romance. At first, Takayuki Narumi, the man,  is befriended by Mitsuki Hayase only because Mitsuki’s best friend, Haruka Suzumiya has a crush on him.   Harukathen  confesses her love  to Takayuki. Not wanting to hurt her feelings, Takayuki agrees to go out with her. After a few incidents, their relationship gets intimate, even while Takayuki and Mitsuki begin to realize their feelings for each other. Sounds liek he’s two-timing! That’s not the best part! Ttragedy strikes (boom! I’m not telling you what) and things began to change…

4) Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou

A very comical romance series that will have you laughing at almost all the episodes! Yukino Miyazawa is a girl who is the envy of her classmates for her excellent grades and immaculate appearance. However, in the privacy of her own home, she is spoiled, stubborn, and a slob! She studies non-stop to maintain her grades. On entering high school, she is overthrown from her position at the top of the class by Soichiro Arima. She vows to destroy him! When Soichiro confesses his love to her, Yukino rejects him… And the story  continues from there…

Romantic [rating: 3.5/5] 

There you go, my favourite high / middle school animes. I hope they will help those who find school boring. Hehe

I often wonder what will happen when a Samurai meets a Ninja? Of course, I am not talking about the nitty gritty stuff like the formal greeting. “Ohaiyo gozaimasu!”, says the Samurai. “Ohaiyo gozaimasu! Kyou wa otenki desune…”, says the Ninja. Nay.. I’m not interested in this

Now, we all know that Samurais are men of honour – part of the military nobility of medieval Japan. They fight in the “light” and will not resort to unorthodox tactics. Ninjas are basically warriors trained in a variety of unorthodox arts of war. They fight in the “dark”, with weapons often unheard of. Imagine what happens when Naruto meets Kenshin.. *Shudders*  The battle begins…

Naruto: I’m Uzumaki Naruto! What I like is ramen, especially the kind at the Ichiraku Ramen shop. What I dislike is the three minute wait after you pour in the boiling water. My hobby is eating ramen. And my dream…is to be the next Hokage! And I’m going to defeat you, Dattebayo!

Kenshin: I am myself until the end! I fight as Himura Kenshin!

Naruto: Bring it on, scar-face! Anything you throw at me I’ll give it back a thousand fold! 
(With that naruto throws the first weapon – the kunai!!)

Kenshin: You’re the one who should be praying to God.
(Kenshin dodges all the Kunais! With his shinsoku, he aims his sakabatou at Naruto’s abdomen.)

Naruto (miraculously avoiding the sakabatou): That style is so outdated! Watch this, my newly developed Sexy Jutsu!

Kenshin: It doesn’t matter. Use whatever technique you like. However, once I’ve said I’ll kill you, your death is assured.  Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki!
(Kenshin resorts to his most powerful attack…)

Naruto: I never give up… I never go back on my word…thats the way of the ninja! Rasengan!!!!
(Naruto immediately counters with his favourite jutsu!)

Who will win? Will it be the formidabble Samurai Kenshin, or the Ninja Naruto who always fights to the end? Sword versus Jutsu… you decide!!!

Now, we all know that the Dragonball movie will be out next year. We also know that most of us can’t wait for the movie to be out

I was looking through the list of top rated movies from Yahoo movies and was astonished to find the Dragonball movie amidst those “legends”. I was like, “Hey! This movie is not even out till next year, why would anyone rate it?”

What’s more shocking was that it has received an average of 4.04 out of 5. Now, that’s a high-rated movie according to Yahoo!’s standard. At that point in time, 56 users had voted.

Anticipation or desperation? Are we so fast to make an early judgment? Or is it because they are plenty of James Marsden’s fans out there? Let’s wait for the movie to come out
